Bianco Frost granite is quarried in Brazil, where slow magma cooling left behind a white-to-gray base threaded with fluid black veins and scattered burgundy-red mineral specks. No two slabs share the same pattern, which is part of what draws designers to it. Medium variation means consistent overall color with enough movement to make kitchen islands and vanity tops genuinely interesting.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Bianco Frost granite pricing at Granite Selection depends on slab thickness, edge profile, and overall project scope. Contact us directly for current Chicago-area rates. Here’s a quick overview of the factors that affect your final cost:

    Cost Factor What to Know
Slab thickness 2cm vs. 3cm changes material price
Edge profile Eased costs less; ogee or mitered costs more
Kitchen square footage Calculated per square foot
Number of cutouts Sink, cooktop openings add fabrication time
  • Yes. Bianco Frost is a natural porous stone, and lighter granites typically absorb liquids more readily than darker varieties. Without sealing, spills can penetrate below the surface and cause staining. To keep the surface protected:

    • Apply a quality penetrating impregnating sealer at installation
    • Re-seal at least once per year
    • Check with the water bead test: if water soaks in rather than beads up, it’s time to reseal
  • Bianco Frost granite handles outdoor applications well, with a Mohs hardness of 6.0 to 7.0. In Chicago’s climate, however, freeze-thaw cycles can affect unsealed stone over time, and extended UV exposure may gradually shift surface pigmentation. Annual sealing is especially important outdoors. Confirm the slab is sealed thoroughly before winter, and recheck each spring.

📏 How to Measure Your Countertop

Choose your countertop shape and measure in inches:

Essential Measurement Tips:

  • Measure in inches: Use a tape measure and record all dimensions in inches for accuracy.
  • Account for overhangs: Standard overhang is 1–1.5 inches beyond cabinet edges.
  • Consider appliances: Measure around cooktops, sinks, and other fixtures that will be cut out.
  • Check for walls: If installing against walls, measure the actual wall length as walls may not be perfectly straight.
  • New construction: If you don't have existing countertops, measure the cabinet boxes and add overhang allowances.

Accurate measurement is the most critical step in your countertop project. Even small errors can result in expensive mistakes, material waste, or ill-fitting slabs. We strongly recommend scheduling a professional template measurement with our team.
